Old Glam: Vintage Wave Tutorial

Lets start off the weekend with a tutorial! Today we are linking up with Jessica and Elise to bring you this vintage wave look! We cant get enough of this old glam hair and it seriously is so easy to do! Follow the simple steps below to give yourself a modern vintage wave!

  1. Start with your hair freshly blowdryed and find a good side part. This wave is not as noticable and pretty when done with a middle part.
  2. Start with curling the section above your ear. Use a 1″ barrel curling iron and spray each strand with Wax blast by Redken. 1″ may seem small to you but it’s the best way to achieve the vintage look!
  3. For steps 3, 4 and 5, you want to do the exact same thing right one right next to the other. Wrap curl the hair forward toward your face.
  4. Next switch sides and repeat. Do one curl after the other in the exact same pattern. You’ll start to notice a sort of tight curl happening.
  5. Once the curls are in place, spray with a firm holding hairspray. I like to spray after so the hairspray sits on top of the hair instead of making it heavier by cooking it into the hair.
  6. After everything cools, take the fine side of your comb and start combing through the curls. As you comb around the entire head, the curl pattern will start to join together.
  7. If you’ve curled all your sections the exact same way right next to each other, you’ll start to see a pretty  pattern form as you’re combing.
  8. Give it one last spray of hairspray and enjoy your vintage waves!
If you have a little extra time you can use clips to make the curls last longer! Follow all the steps above but clip each curl in place and let sit for 15 mins before you comb out the waves. This will give it a tighter longer lasting result!

 Happy Friday!!

Messy Bow Tutorial

Love bows? We are in love with bows here at Suggestions! Learn how to create your own cute half up hair bow to give you a new fancy look!

{Step by Step to create a Messy Bow}
1. First take one small section of hair from each side of your head. The bigger your sections are, the bigger the bow.
2. Tie the two sections together with an elastic to create a half ponytail.  Don't pull the ends through the elastic like the first picture.
3. Split the loop in half to create two smaller loops.
4. Use your fingers to spread out the loop and push it flat against your head into a bow shape. Use bobby pins to shape each side of the bow the way you want it to lay on your head.
6. Pick up the remaining ends of the ponytail and wrap them up and around the elastic to hide it.  Secure it with bobby pins underneath. Pull it out and make it loose if you want a messy look!

Braids are one of the hottest hair trends and seen on catwalks all over the world during fashion week. Your hair is your best accessory and should always be treated as such!
{Here are a few things you should keep in mind when trying your own braids at home}
1. Brush your hair before you braid. Remove any knots before you start to make braiding smoother and easier.
2. If you have thick, coarse hair, use argan oil to smooth your hair to achieve neater braids.
3. If you have fine, soft hair, use products like dry shampoo or sea salt sprays to add more grip to your hair.
4. Stretch out your braids. This is the most important step people! Pull gently at the sides of your braids to make them look wider and thicker!
