New Again-Braid Crown Tutorial

Vintage hair is the new modern do! What’s so amazing about hair and fashion is that current styles are often returning trends from the past or other cultures. These looks are  transformed into chic, modern styles that are showing up on current runways. Braid crowns and halos have been popular for the last few years and becoming the new do again. For that chic, unique, boho look, the braid crown is the perfect addition to your modern hairstyles!

  • First split your hair right down the middle- get as close to a perfect line as you can. Don't stress if its not exact:)
  • Start at the nape of your neck and braid forward towards your forhead and tie off the end with an elastic band, pictured in {step 1+2}.
  • Braid the second side down the the head like a normal inverted french braid and tie with an elastic, pictured in {step 3}.
  • Wrap the first braid around the front of the head like a headband and pin into place with bobby pins.
  • Wrap the second braid around the back of the head and tuck the end underneath the first braid and fasten with bobby pins, pictured in {step 4}
  • Pull a few pieces of hair out around the face to create a more messy, modern look.
  • Toss on a pretty dress or a classy tee to complete the look! Enjoy!

Boho Braid Tutorial

Sharing a Boho Braid Tutorial by Elise today! It's a unique alternative to a simple braid and side ponytail!

- Put hair into side ponytail.

-Divide your hair into two sections above the elastic band then loop the ponytail through and pull it towards your neck, as in step 2 and 3.

-Continue dividing and looping your hair all the way down the ponytail and tie off with an elastic after each section. Each section should be around 2 inches.

-The final touch is to pull the hair on the sides of each section to give volume and a messy boho look as instep 7

Messy Bow Tutorial

Love bows? We are in love with bows here at Suggestions! Learn how to create your own cute half up hair bow to give you a new fancy look!

{Step by Step to create a Messy Bow}
1. First take one small section of hair from each side of your head. The bigger your sections are, the bigger the bow.
2. Tie the two sections together with an elastic to create a half ponytail.  Don't pull the ends through the elastic like the first picture.
3. Split the loop in half to create two smaller loops.
4. Use your fingers to spread out the loop and push it flat against your head into a bow shape. Use bobby pins to shape each side of the bow the way you want it to lay on your head.
6. Pick up the remaining ends of the ponytail and wrap them up and around the elastic to hide it.  Secure it with bobby pins underneath. Pull it out and make it loose if you want a messy look!

Day Dreaming of Braids!

We LOVE braiding over here at Suggestions Salon. French, fishtail, dutch, twist, rope, waterfall, plain, double, ladder, plaited. We're obsessed. Braids are simple and make you look like you actually took a while to fix your hair.
Enjoy these gorgeous braided hair styles done by our amazing stylists at Suggestions..

Braids are one of the hottest hair trends and seen on catwalks all over the world during fashion week. Your hair is your best accessory and should always be treated as such!
{Here are a few things you should keep in mind when trying your own braids at home}
1. Brush your hair before you braid. Remove any knots before you start to make braiding smoother and easier.
2. If you have thick, coarse hair, use argan oil to smooth your hair to achieve neater braids.
3. If you have fine, soft hair, use products like dry shampoo or sea salt sprays to add more grip to your hair.
4. Stretch out your braids. This is the most important step people! Pull gently at the sides of your braids to make them look wider and thicker!

Gatsby Updo Tutorial

Today we are linking up with our stylist Elise to give you this lovely gastsby inspired updo! Its so simple and a perfect way to change up your everyday look!

Step 1- Start by separating your bangs (If you have them) from the rest of your hair. Then style them whichever way you like. (She used a curling iron)
Step 2- Tease the crown of your head a bit, this will add some volume.

Step 3- Then all you have to do is put the headband on top of your hair like a crown (while your hair is down) and then grab the rest of your hair at the back and tuck it into the headband. The messier the better!

Step 4-For the final touch, pull out your bangs or some loose pieces in the front. Now how simple was that! You have yourself a pretty updo in less than 3 minutes!

What you need:
